We met Michael at an Open House and we were impressed with his knowledge of the neighborhood. He also was friendly without being pushy. When we were ready to sign with a realtor, I was impressed by the information on their website. After we signed, we mainly dealt with Maryann. She was organized, detail-oriented, knowledgeable about the neighborhoods around town, and was good at pointing out the positives and the potential problems with the properties that we viewed with her. Maryann had a good idea of what we were looking for even though we were looking in a huge price range and wide variety of houses. We NEVER felt that she was trying to push us into buying something because she was tired of showing us houses. The down side of finally finding a house is that we won’t see Maryann regularly.

Maryann & Michael are amazing. I should have written this review months ago. They helped us find and purchase our home in Dexter last spring. Since then I have contacted them two different times for information that was misplaced during our move. Both times they very quickly responded with the needed information and requests to please let them know if we needed anything else. The reason I contacted them today was to ask if we had a radon test completed on our home. I couldn't find the paperwork and needed it for home childcare licensing. I sent the email last night and they responded this morning. They not only confirmed the testing, but also sent the test results and our receipt. Overall our house was sold sooner than we had anticipated at the price we wanted, and Maryann and Michael were there every step of the way.

The Ryans are such a great real estate team. We did a lot of research for the Ann Arbor area and saw a lot of great reviews about them. They both have wonderful personalities, and are really fun to work with. We originally started with the Ann Arbor area and then branched out to the Plymouth area. We tried to get a house in Plymouth, but the deal fell through and they were very knowledgeable and supportive of us through our disappointment.
Soon after the first house fell through, we found an even better house in the Saline area, and it turned out they were the listing agents. Everything went smoothly as they would share their opinions and knowledge, helping us figure out what we were looking for. While they would offer plenty of advice, they never pushed us and always let us have the final say.
They went out of their way to be available to us, giving us their cell phone numbers so we could always get a hold of one of them. Also, one of them was always available to show us houses. In addition, they have great people that they can refer you to such as lenders and inspectors, etc. We couldn’t be happier with our new home, and having the Ryans as our buying agents.

I wanted to sell my house and not lose a lot of money or have to pay someone to buy it (with the market still being down from when I purchased in the mid 2000’s). I had no idea where to start, how much my home may be worth or what to do to get it ready for the market. Maryann and Michael came over to evaluate my property and made suggestions on things I should do before listing (that made a huge difference!), before coming out to photograph and document the house for listing.
They sent me comparable listings from my area and worked with me on establishing an appropriate price based on current market conditions. They did a wonderful job of presenting my house and advertising it. When I saw the listing on the internet I couldn't believe how wonderful everything looked.
Their suggestions were simple (and mostly no cost to implement as well!) but made a big difference. I received a very good offer within a few weeks of listing the house. Maryann kept me up to date on the process and stayed on top of the transaction to make sure things moved along as quickly as possible with all involved parties.
During the time she was working to sell my home, we were also looking for a new home that was closer to work but still had everything I wanted in a house. We looked at countless houses over about 5 months and finally found the perfect house. After a few bumps in the process, She was able to work out a great deal that brought the price down to less than my initial offer! I am now settled in and loving my new place.
I don't think there is any way that I could be happier with the overall results or any point in the process from the sale of my previous home through the close of my new home. It took a long time to find the right house, but it was worth the wait. I have the perfect home, and was able to get it for less than I thought possible!
Very Professional and patient! We searched for 10 months, but the entire time Maryann and Michael had OUR BEST INTERESTS in mind. Even though we thought as though they were getting frustrated with us, they were always helpful and courteous to our desires. Very nice! Worked hard and was flexible to work with. Easy to reach via cell phone (calls and/or texts). I was a new mom with a small infant that I had to bring with me to see houses and she was very nice by watching the baby while I looked at the houses and understood the delays associated with that. Was quick to respond to emails and set up showings.
Real estate agent blues got you down? Need someone who will treat you like a valued customer and not a number? We went through so many agents. Missed calls, missed opportunities, showing us the same old crappy houses that we told them we didn't like. We thought there wasn't a single agent out there that would listen to our needs! Well it turns out, there were TWO agents that would!
Michael Ryan with his sense of humor and candor, and Maryann Ryan with her personal nature and care. They will advocate for you, listen to you, show you the best homes for your needs, respond to your texts efficiently, and never give up on you even when you feel completely overwhelmed! Even after the sale of our house they stayed available for our questions and helped with finalizing our paperwork and walkthrough. We would 100% hire them again to buy a house and you should too.

I can't say enough great things about Maryann. We were moving to Michigan from Illinois so it made the buying process a little trickier than normal. We would have to see several homes when we made a trip to Michigan and Maryann was always so accommodating and her communication and responsiveness is amazing.
Even on evening and weekends, you could always expect a response very quickly. We ran into a big conflict with our sellers and things actually got pretty ugly - but Maryann is absolutely the person you want on your side in any kind of conflict or concern. She is very knowledgeable and will represent you to the best of your interests, always. We can't stress enough how much we enjoyed working with Maryann and would gladly recommend her to anyone.

The Ryan team is the team you want by your side when you are buying a home. Buying a home in Ann Arbor is not for the faint of heart. We started looking at open houses on April 12 2015, we met with the Ryan team next day and we had great rapport, so we started working with them on April 14. By the end of May we had found a home we loved... it wasn´t until July 17th that we closed on that house.
Yes it takes time, and yes it was stressful at times, but Michael and Maryann are like a constant beacon of light. Why would you want to work with them? Well, let me tell you. We could relate to them at all times, they are a hardworking couple, family oriented with tons of experience, living in Ann Arbor. They understood our needs and our wants and our fears. They are blunt and honest, no beating around the bushes, our kind of people. We felt like with the Ryans, we were whole as a team to find a new home.
We always felt like we were their only client. They took us to all the houses we wanted to see and they walked us through the houses and gave us their analytical opinion on the pros and cons of that house, they would point out things that we would have not notice at first (particularly if you are not very familiar with Ann Arbor) such as: "it is too close to the freeway, it is on a very transited street, you will need to bring a structural engineer to look at this basement walls, etc..." they also told us which houses were in great locations, well taken care of, well priced etc.
Maryann and Michael also took us to look at many houses they had picked for us and we put offers on some of them. We liked that they let us mature on our own during this home-buying process and we never felt even a wimp of pushy-pressure from them. But once we decided to put an offer in a particular house everything moved super fast, they did not waste a minute to build up a strong solid offer. They truly always had our best interest at heart. The most heart-breaking part of buying a home in Ann Arbor is that if you want to be close to downtown and to the university (like we did) the harder the competition and the higher the price. We had never experienced the craziness of multiple offers, waiving contingencies, escalating offers, overpriced houses, etc... and Michael and Maryann are quite the pros for that, it was like maneuvering in rough waters under a storm and they both are great captains.
I would say our biggest fear was to buy a home for more than it was worth and then be upside-down after few years. They will advise you on the value of the home based on comps and suggest you a range for the price, then the decision is yours. We saw many homes, from beautiful homes that were move-in ready, to homes that needed some updates but that were functional and structurally sound, to homes that were going to be a headache to fix. Michael and Maryann are always super responsive, they will never leave you hanging and they will give you great advice on how to get the house but at the end they will respect your decisions and fight for you just the same.
Once you offer is finally accepted on the house you want, you can see more of their experience at work, further negotiation skills, great connections when it comes to the inspections (house inspection, sewer inspection, furnace and AC inspections etc...) and they keep tabs with you on all the dates where the contingencies expire so that you don´t miss any of them. Even after we closed they kept helping us with recommendations for the things we need done in our new home. Thanks to Maryann and Michael, we chose a great home in a great location for us that we will make more beautiful with time and with our own taste. We love it, we are very very happy with it. And that is why you should work with the Ryan team.
